BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Wan Nurhayati is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and she also serves as Deputy Director (Technology Transfer and Commercialisation) of Putra Science Park (PSP) UPM.
Her academic experience since 2000 has been dedicated to the field of Software Engineering and Information Systems. Over the course of 24 years of her career, she has made valuable contributions as a tutor, lecturer, senior lecturer, and associate professor. Her research interests include the exploration of quality aspects of software and web engineering. She has successfully supervised over 65 research projects at bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. levels. UPM acknowledged her dedication to a Ph.D. graduate on time under her supervision. She has contributed to the field through more than 70 publications, which include ISI-indexed journals, citation-indexed journals, conference proceedings, books, and more.
Her current management mandate from UPM is to make successful the technology transfer and commercialisation of UPM’s technologies and innovations. She spearheads UPM’s networking and matching efforts with industries and investors, focusing and bridging all the key players in the innovation commercialisation ecosystem. To date, UPM has successfully commercialised 282 technologies. Thanks to a comprehensive innovation and commercialisation ecosystem, the PSP has become a benchmark for other universities and research institutions. Additionally, PSP has successfully attracted potential industries and investors to become strategic partners and supporters of UPM.
For the past ten years, she has led the efforts to promote and commercialise UPM’s innovations. Her journey began as the innovation champion for FCSIT and the coordinator for UPM InnoHub. InnoHub is the UPM’s first hub dedicated to validating technologies and innovations in the market. During her coordination, InnoHub has accepted 83 innovation projects from 2014 to 2022, and 30 start-up companies secured a total investment of RM18.3mil.
Qualified and experienced in promotion, technology transfer and commercialisation management, she has conducted a series of training related to commercialisation of technology and innovation. These sessions have equipped various organisations and platforms with exposure and technology transfer skills. She has experience as a panelist and speaker at national and international training sessions, seminars, and events related to university technology transfer and commercialisation, as well as start-up market validation.
