Suriati Paiman is an associate professor at the Department of Physics at Universiti Putra Malaysia where she heads the department.

She is the current Chairman of the UPMSTEM unit.

She holds a Bachelor of Science (Industrial Physics) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and completed a Ph.D. on ?~@~XMOCVD Growth and Characterisation of Au-Catalysed InP Nanowires?~@~Y at the Electronic Materials Engineering, Research School of Physical Research and Sciences, Australian National University in 2012. After completing her doctorate, she joined the Department of Physics, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), as a Lecturer, and in 2018 became an Associate Professor. Her research interests include epitaxial growth of semiconductor nanostructures and devices; device fabrication, testing/characterization of optoelectronic/piezoelectric applications and STEM education towards the development of IOT-based innovation. She has authored or co-authored more than 100 papers and conference presentations in these fields. She is a Senior Member of the IEEE and the Former Secretary of Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Chapter, in Malaysia. In 2020, she was awarded the Professional Technologists by the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). And recently she was awarded as the IEEE STEM Champion 2022 recipient.

Outside work hours Suriati enjoys home decorating, besides getting involved in volunteering and religious activities to help the local community.
