Prof. Dr. Samsilah Roslan joined the Faculty of Educational Studies in UPM as a tutor in 1997 and became a lecturer in 2001. She is actively involved in numerous research projects, especially those related to the potential development of children and youth. She has joined the Families and Schools Together (FAST) Programme to work on initiatives related to the enhancement of conducive and balanced family, school and community environments. Prof. Dr. Samsilah is also involved in research on the education for children with special needs, including gifted children and children with learning disabilities such as dyslexia and autism. Together with gifted education experts from California Association for the Gifted, she has organized trainings and workshops to educate teachers and parents on differentiated learning methods and ways to address the special needs of gifted children. She has collaborated with the Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, FELDA, Ministry of Youth and Sports and several other agencies in conducting various research and consultancy projects to provide optimum conditions for the potential development of human capital. She was awarded UPM Young Researcher Award for the Social Sciences category in 2006, Excellence in Teaching Award (2008) and UPM Vice Chancellor Fellowship (2009). She is currently Head of the Psychology Cluster in the the Think Tank committee for the Malaysian Institute of Youth Research and Development, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and has been involved as panel member in the Curriculum Development for Teacher Training in Gifted Education Committee with the Teacher Training Department, Ministry of Education, and as expert panel in the National Program for Gifted and Talented Students, Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Findings from her studies were presented in conferences and published in local and international journals. Up to date, she has managed to copyright four research innovations. Samsilah also underwent trainings in the economics of education and cost analysis programme, Return of Investment (ROI) calculation method by ROI Institute, as well as trainings in intellectual properties protection and commercialization under the School of Law, University of California Davis and SRI International, California. Between 2013-2019, Samsilah was the Director of Putra Science Park UPM. She was appointed as the Dean of Faculty of educational Studies, UPM since October 2019 till September 2021.
