Dr. Noris Mohd Norowi is a Senior Lecturer at the Multimedia Department, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia. She has a PhD in Computer Music from the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom, as well as a Master of Science in Multimedia Systems and a degree in Computer Science (Majoring in Multimedia), both from the Universiti Putra Malaysia. Her field of studies is Human-Computer Interaction. She is currently the Treasurer of the ACM SIGCHI Kuala Lumpur (myHCI-UX). She belongs to the Human-Computer Interaction Research group, where the focus of her research include Mobile Technologies, Immersive Technologies, Music Interaction and Interaction Design. She supervises several postgraduates on various projects of the areas previously mentioned. She also has a deep passion for traditional Malaysian music, where she had worked on several projects to automatically classify them into their respective genres. She is a self-proclaimed 'Gendangist' and plays tradional percussion instruments such as the Gendangs, Gongs, and Kompang to name a few. She used to be a Gamelan player, performing under the Pusat Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, UPM's Gamelan group. While in Plymouth, she had also joined the Balinese Gamelan group named 'Chandra Gita Suara' at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Plymouth.
