Dr. Norhariani Mohd Nor is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), specializing in animal health economics and stochastic bioeconomic modeling. Using tools like @Risk in Excel, she estimates costs of production and disease impact by integrating epidemiology with economic analysis. Her multidisciplinary research spans ruminant production, aquatic animal health, and digital technologies in agriculture. She is currently an associate interim researcher at both the Institute of Bioscience (IBS) and Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS), UPM.
Her research portfolio includes:
Economic evaluation of vaccines for vibriosis (aquaculture) and Lumpy Skin Disease (ruminants)
Precision veterinary surveillance systems (MRUN)
Cost-efficiency of poultry farms (MARDI)
Digital and biotechnological innovations in aquaculture (EEPSEA, IDRC, BactiVac)
Dr. Norhariani is passionate about translating research into policy insights and community solutions. She has led impactful service-learning initiatives such as the SULAM project in Kg Bandar, collaborating with KPLB and KPM to improve aquaculture farmers’ livelihoods. She received the Best Innocreative Educator Award (2022) for her blended learning innovation on pet health education and was a 2024 AKRI finalist representing UPM.
With over 27 peer-reviewed publications, 16 in Q1/Q2 journals, and an H-index of 9 (Scopus), she is also active in capacity building and international collaborations across Southeast Asia.
