*BRIEF PROFILE*

Ts. Dr Megat Al Imran Yasin is an academic staff of Communication Department, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication University Putra Malaysia. He obtained his Phd degree from the School of Journalism Media and Cultural Studies (Jomec) Cardiff University Wales United Kingdom in 2004, Master of Information Technology National University of Malaysia 1998, and Bachelor (Human Science) Communication from the International Islamic University Malaysia. He has been appointed as a visiting scholar of the Faculty of Culture and Creative Industries, University of Central Lancashire Preston United Kingdom and the adjunct Professor of the Centre of Graduate Studies Lim Kok Wing University. He is also a certified member of the Malaysian Board of Technologist (MBOT).In the broadcast and media field he was seconded to the Ministry of Communication and Multimedia Malaysia as the Deputy Director General (Technical and Production) National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (Finas) and acting Director General of Finas in 2013-2015. Before that he was also the Board of Director of Finas from 2012-2013. He was the recipient of the Anugerah Tokoh Profima (Professional Film Workers Association) for his contribution in the film and broadcast industry in Malaysia. Dr Megat Al Imran Yasin was an award winning broadcast journalist and producer for TV3 (one of the Malaysian private tv station) responsible for the production of the flagship TV3's programme "Majalah 3". He won several prestigious national journalism awards such as the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) National Journalism Award (1996) coverage on the Bakun Hydroelectric project in Sarawak. ICI-CCM Environmental Journalism Award on the coverage of Oil Spill in Tanjung Karang Selangor Malaysia (1997). In TV3 he won main awards for Anugerah Skrin TV3 1995 (Jejak Kasih Padang Besar), Anugerah Skrin 1996 (Red Crab Migration Christmas Island Australia) and Anugerah Skrin TV3 1997 (Sepanjang Landasan) a documentary coverage on the east coast railway services in Malaysia. Internationally he won the first place on the Asean Photo and Documentary Reportage (Hanoi Vietnam 2014) on his story entitled "Jungle Beat". Dr Megat Al Imran has joined academia since 2001 in the field of broadcasting, journalism, communication and media studies. His research and professional interests are documentary production, broadcasting & ICT, journalism, strategic communication and media studies.
