PROFESSIONAL

I have graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 with the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). I was given an opportunity to join the Faculty of Agriculture as a tutor in Ruminant Production (Nutrition) in the Department of Animal Science. During that time, I have assisted the course coordinator for ruminant production course during the practical sessions and help the students to grasp the concept of the course. The following year, I have managed to secure a scholarship awarded by Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to pursue my doctoral studies at the School of Animal Science, The University of Queensland, Australia in the field of Ruminant Production and completed a PhD investigating the bacterial community in the foregut of the dromedary camel.

I have returned to Malaysia in 2011 and undertook positions as a Senior Lecturer in Ruminant Production (Nutrition) in the Faculty of Agriculture, UPM. I have gained a lot of experience in teaching, both local and international students and hopefully, with this knowledge, I can invent myself to become a much better educator for my field of interest which is a ruminant nutrition. In 2013, I was awarded with ‘The Best Lecturer Award’ for Faculty of Agriculture, UPM and was shortlisted for the ‘Vice-Chancellor Fellowship Award 2014’ finalist for ‘Young Educator Award’ category. I have been promoted to Associate Professor in July 2016 and Professor in November 2019.

Currently, I have attracted over RM 617,990.00 in research grants as a Principal Investigator and RM 3,962,075.00 as a Co-Investigator. I have published 91 journal publications (72 CIJ & 19 non-CIJ) so far and of these 91 journals, I have become a primary/corresponding author of 56 journal publications.

I have supervised 6 PhD (5 graduated) and 14 MSc (8 graduated) students as a principal supervisor and co-supervising 14 PhD students and 8 Master of Science students. Currently, I teach Basic Animal Nutrition, and; Feed and Feeding, for undergraduate and Techniques in Animal Nutrition Studies for postgraduate in UPM.

For administration experiences, I have been appointed as a Deputy Director of University Community Transformation Centre, UPM from 2015-2016, College Master for College 16, UPM from 2016-2017, and currently holding a post as a Deputy Dean for Development, Industry and Community Linkages, Faculty of Agriculture, UPM since 2017 until to date.

For international standing, I have been invited to give a month lecture on Basic Animal Nutrition for the International Bachelor’s Certificate Program at Ecole d’Ingénieurs de PURPAN, Toulouse, France. I have also been invited to give a plenary talk at 3 international conferences. I was also being invited to examine 3 PhD theses from 3 different universities in Pakistan and co-supervising 2 PhD and 3 MSc from universities abroad. I have managed to secure an international grant from a company that is based in Australia (Kemin Industries). I have been appointed to be a member of the Editorial Board for BMC Veterinary Research, Frontiers in Animal Sciences, International Journal of Zoology and Animal Biology, and Tropical Animal Science Journal. Lastly, I have also involved as a reviewer of several highly reputable journals such as PLOS One (Q1), Livestock Science (Q1), Applied and Environmental Microbiology (Q1), Archives of Microbiology (Q1) and many more.
