My Philosophy
“I believe engineering should serve society. To me, technology is most meaningful when it improves lives, empowers communities, and creates positive change for the future. My work brings together Biomedical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Gerontechnology to support health, well-being, and digital inclusion, especially for older persons.”
A Little About Me
I am Professor Ir. Dr. Siti Anom Ahmad, a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Please call me Anom :)
My academic journey began at UPM, where I completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic and Computer Engineering in 1999. I later pursued my postgraduate studies at University of Southampton, earning an M.Sc. in Microelectronics System Design in 2004, followed by a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2009.
Over the years, my work has grown beyond engineering fundamentals into areas that are deeply connected to human well-being. My research sits at the intersection of Biomedical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Gerontechnology, and Intelligent Systems, with a strong focus on translating technology into practical solutions that improve quality of life.
I am particularly passionate about innovations that support healthy ageing, independent living, fall prevention, physiological signal analysis, and digital inclusion for older persons — because I believe technology should not only be intelligent, but also inclusive, accessible, and human-centred.
Professionally, I am registered as a Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK), a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and a member of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia.
Beyond titles and research, I simply enjoy meaningful work, working with good people, and pursuing ideas that can make life better for others.
After all, my personal motto is simple:
Do things that make you happy :)
