Dr. Sandra Maniam
BSc Biomedical Sci (UPM), MMed Sci. (Pharmacology) (UKM), DPhil (Clinical Pharmacology)(Oxford University)

Sandra Maniam obtained her DPhil from Oxford University under the supervision of Professor Nicholas La Thangue and Dr Amanda Coutts in the field of Cancer Biology that explores the p53 cofactor’s role in the mitochondrial and its effect on tumorigenesis.
She is currently a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology at Universiti Putra Malaysia. Her group works on the effect of natural products on cancer cell metabolism and exploring the role of mitochondria in various diseases. She is actively involved in promoting STEM education among primary school students in the country through ‘Young Scientist Day’ programs conducted annually since 2014.She is a member Malaysian Society of Pharmacology and Physiology and the Ambassador for European Association of Cancer Research.
