Professor Dr. Rusliza Basir
BSc. Hons (Univ. of Liverpool, UK); PhD (Univ. of Manchester, UK)
Dr. Rusliza Basir is a Professor of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences,
Universiti Putra Malaysia. She received her BSc. (Hons) degree in Pharmacology from the
University of Liverpool, UK in 1994 and PhD in Immunopharmacology from the University of
Manchester, UK in 1998. She has more than 20 years of experience in teaching various aspects
of pharmacology and more than 25 years of research experience focusing on malaria infection
particularly on targeting the immune system for immunotherapeutic development against the
infection. She has published in many reputable journals and has presented her works at
national and international levels. She has also supervised many postgraduate students at
Master and PhD levels. Dr. Rusliza Basir is an appointed pharmacologist member of the
Medicine Advertisement Board, Ministry of Health, Malaysia from 2020-2023. She is actively
involved in learned societies and has hold important positions such as honorary secretary and
vice president for the Malaysian Society of Pharmacology & Physiology. She is also an active
member of the Malaysian Society of Parasitology & Tropical Medicine.
