Normaz Wana Ismail is an Associate Professor in economics at Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Putra Malaysia. She is also the Deputy Director of the Institute of Agricultural and Food Policy Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia. She received her PhD in Economics from University of Southampton, United Kingdom. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Macroeconomics, International Trade and Research Methodology. More than 30 postgraduate students have graduated under her supervision (main supervisor) which includes 6 PhDs, Master of Science, Master of Economics and MBAs.
Her research interests include ASEAN studies, particularly issues related to intra regional trade, foreign direct investment, convergence and economic growth. Current research interest in international economics are mainly focus in the use of gravity model in international trade including trade relationship with free trade agreement, language, infrastructure and other trade costs. She has published numbers of publications in cited refereed journals, books and chapters in books and presented over 20 papers at national and international conferences.
She also served as a consultant to government agencies such as Economic Planning Unit and Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK). At International level, she is also involved consultation work with Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA).
