WELCOME

Nurfadhlina Mohd Sharef is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Putra, Malaysia.

Her researcher interests are data science, text mining, semantic web, computational intelligence, knowledge management and information retrieval. She is attached to three groups: (i) Intelligent Systems Research Group (ii) The Computational Quranic Informatics Special Interest Group (CQI-SIG) (iii) Database Technology and Applications Research Group at University of Putra, Malaysia. She is also a research associate at the Centre of Agent Technology, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Malaysia.

She did her Bachelor of Information Technology (Science and Information Management) at the National University of Malaysia, Malaysia. Her research during her Master of Science (Software Engineering) at the University of Putra Malaysia was on the facilitation of agent technology for personalized knowledge sharing services. During her PhD study at the University of Bristol under the sponsorship of Ministry of Higher Education, she developed an incremental evolutionary fuzzy grammar fragment algorithm for text learning and applied the algorithm in text extraction problem. She was also involved in the development of fuzzy grammars for terrorist incidents identifications based on data from the World Incident Tracking System from US and learn patterns of economic activity to build a prediction system based on economic statements from the European Central Bank. During her postdoctoral study at the Centre of Artificial Intelligent, Faculty of Technology and Information Science, National University of Malaysia, she focused on the automatic translation of natural language question to formal semantic query.

She has authored more than 50 scientific papers in various refereed journals and conferences. She is also actively involved in research projects and is supervising several postgraduate students beside her usual teaching workload.
