PROFESSIONAL

Dr. Mazliana Binti Ahmad Kamarudin is currently a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, a position she has held since 2010. She earned her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physics from UPM and subsequently completed her PhD in Physics at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom

Her academic career began as a Tutor in the Department of Physics at UPM from 2006 to 2010. Concurrently with her tenure as a Senior Lecturer, she also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Nottingham, UK, from 2012 to 2016. Dr. Mazliana's research primarily focuses on the controlled synthesis and surface functionalization of semiconductor quantum dots to achieve tunable properties.

Her core competencies include:
1. Advanced optical and structural characterization of nanomaterials, with a special emphasis on electron-phonon coupling, surface states, and defect engineering.

2. Design and development of nanostructured materials specifically tailored to improve the efficiency and stability of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs)

She is highly active in research, having served as a principal investigator and project member on numerous funded grants (such as MOHE FRGS and UPM Putra Grants) exploring quantum dots, perovskites, and solar cells. Since 2019, she has been an active member of The Malaysian Solid-State Science and Technology Society (MASS661). In addition to her research and teaching, she contributes to the academic development of others by supervising numerous PhD and Master's students, having successfully overseen completions as both a chairman and committee member.
