Associate Professor Dr Lai Mei I

She is an Associate Professor of Haematology.
Her research focus was built on the foundation of exploring hereditary red blood cell disorders particularly in thalassaemia. Her current researches include investigating the effects of α-thalasaemia on renal development thalassaemia mouse embryos as well as single-based gene editing for specific thalassaemia mutations.
The other thrust of her research work is on creating low cost innovative tools for screening purposes with a patent filed. Her other research interests include designing and gamifying pre-clinical courses for the purpose of complementing conventional lectures.
