On 30 May 2025, I attended Innovation Unleashed: A Conversation with a Remarkable Inventor, held at Lecture Room 11 (BK11), Faculty of Engineering, UPM. The event was organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, in collaboration with IEEE EPS, IEEE, and NXP.
The session featured Inv. Cheah Bok Eng, a distinguished Malaysian inventor listed in the Malaysia Book of Records, with over 200 issued patents to his name. His presentation provided a rare glimpse into the life and mindset of a prolific innovator who has remained at the forefront of technological advancement.
Inv. Cheah spoke passionately about the need to distinguish between the “patent war” and the real, meaningful innovations that drive change and solve global challenges. He urged students to develop a mindset rooted in creativity and initiative, not just to perform well in their roles, but to elevate their workplaces and industries through innovation.
