• Copyleft is a general method for making a program (or other work) free of copyright
restrictions, and requiring all modified and extended versions of the program to be
free as well.
• The Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) has challenged traditional approaches to copyright management by using copyright to build ‘openness’ and reuse of existing works. Open source licenses are licenses that provide licensees the right to use a product often without requiring payment of license fees.
• IP culture must be re-enforced through company values, leaflets, and articles in the company magazine or newsletter. Employees must be kept abreast of new developments in IP through various communication channels. Thirdly, employees may be involved in identifying IP threats to the company by reporting on competitors’ patents or competitors' use of confusingly similar trade marks or get-up available
