WELCOME

I am an academic staff from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) since 2012 upon completion of my Ph.D at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Among my main interest is air pollution research specifically in the assessment of indoor air exposures and its corresponding relationship with human health. I am also focused on aspects of improving governance of OSH at the workplace.

I have been collaborating closely with international research teams at the University of Stirling, UK and Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. Our team have secured several international research grants for amounts more than RM600,000.

I have led several national and international-funded projects and have authored and co-authored indexed-scientific articles describing researches that I have been involved in various national and international journals.

I routinely teach Occupational Health and OSH Management System courses to undergraduates and postgraduates which are based on the well-known ISO45001:2018 for the workplace. I have competency for the auditing of ISO45001:2018 and an Ergonomic Trained Person recognised by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia.

I am heavily involved in supervisions of postgraduate students. I serve the Institutional Ethics Board of Universiti Putra Malaysia as a Post-Approval Sub Committee and I am also interested in contributing to the industry and community by sharing my work outcome with them. I was awarded with funds in 2020 from the Yayasan Innovasi Malaysia to manufacture harvesting tools to be disseminated to selected disadvantaged (B40) farmers in Malaysia.

I contribute to non-governmental organisations namely the Environmental and Occupational Health Association as Honorary Treasurer.

I may be contacted at za_emilia@upm.edu.my for any work-related and academic interests.
