B.Asc. (Hons) Industrial Biotechnology (Universiti Malaysia Pahang), M.Sc. and PhD. in Biodiversity and Conservation of Natural Resources (Universiti Putra Malaysia). Edward is working as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia. He does research in Plant Taxonomy, Systematics, and Ecology. His current project is focusing on diversity and conservation strategies for rescued orchids from logging concessionaires in Peninsular Malaysia, and DNA barcoding and floral anatomy studies of selected flagship species. Edward has so far first-authored 15 research articles and 2 conference proceedings on Orchidaceae, and co-authored another 8 research articles on other plant groups, including Nepenthaceae, Zingiberaceae, and Malvaceae. Edward is also a Member of the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC), and a recipient of Best Biology Postgraduates for Msc. (2018) and PhD. (2022), awarded by the Faculty of Science, and a recipient of the Conservation Recognition Award for the year 2022, awarded by the Conservation Committee of the American Orchid Society (AOS).
